I don’t think I need to state the obvious with Jared Padalecki as Lance Alvers, but I actually have a few other castings that I’ve been thinking about ever since I started re-watching the series.
Tabby, a.k.a. Boom Boom - Gwen Stefani
When it comes to Boom Boom, you need someone with confidence through the roof, wild fashion, great expressions, and blonde hair. Gwen Stefani is the very symbol of all that is confident, punky, and Boom Boom. I was actually originally considering Nancy Allen, who played Officer Luis in Robocop, but she had much more of a girl next door air, which isn’t very Tabby. We need someone who you can look at and say, “Yeah, she’d steal my car if she wanted to. Oh look she just did.”
Fred Dukes, a.k.a. The Blob - Peter DeLuise
Now we all know this would just be the face, seeing as Fred’s mutation caused his body to grow immensely, but look at that face. That, my friends, is the perfect face for The Blob. I’m not sure I even need to go on about this one.
Raven Darkholme, a.k.a. Mystique - Famke Janssen
I know what you’re thinking. “But Ziggbot! Didn’t she already play Jean Grey in the X-Men movies?” YEAH SHE DID. But maybe because I saw X-Men: Evolution before I saw those films, I have always thought of Janssen as Mystique. Those eyebrows, those cheekbones, those alluring, seductive, and still sinister eyes. Seriously, she’s Mystique. She was miscast horribly, and I think she would have pulled off the blue and red MUCH better than Rebecca Romijin.
Pietro Maximoff - Jensen Ackles
This was a casting I’ve had in my head for FOREVER. Jensen Ackles has quite an eastern European look to him, and his confidence and sense of humor are perfect for the Pietro we see in the X-Men: Evolution universe. That smirk that can piss people off in three seconds flat, the witty remarks, and the hidden intelligence (See: Dark Angel) are all perfectly executed by Jensen Ackles.
Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. The Scarlet Witch - Ally Sheedy
Yes, I know, this isn’t what she looks like today, but this is her immortalized form, from the film The Breakfast Club. She can carry herself as the not-so-normal one with a very complicated past, and major abandonment issues. She has an amazing face, and her features are close enough to Jensen Ackles to seem like a fraternal twin.
